DZ BANK advises GS die Genossenschaft eG on the sale of its shares in BIO-Geflügelhof Müritz GmbH
BIO-Geflügelhof Müritz GmbH is a subsidiary of GS Die Genossenschaft eG and is active in egg production. The company operates six farms with a total of 180,000 laying hens, as well as one pullet rearing facility with approximately 76,000 bird places. Across its various farms, the company produces free-range, organic and Naturland-certified eggs.
Through the sale of its shares in BIO-Geflügelhof Müritz GmbH, GS Die Genossenschaft eG can focus on its core activities in the animal feed sector. The new owner is Global Eggs, an internationally established egg producer with origins in Brazil (Granja Faria), which has grown to approximately 50 million laying hens through significant acquisitions in the US, Uruguay and Spain. The acquisition of BIO-Geflügelhof Müritz GmbH marks Global Eggs’ entry into the German market. Global Eggs is majority-owned by Brazilian entrepreneur Ricardo Faria, while US private equity investor Warburg Pincus has held a minority stake since March 2026.
